Mike Edwards
From the Big Leagues to the Mental Game
I grew up in Pennsylvania, where I was a three-sport athlete through high school. After receiving scholarship offers in baseball, basketball, and football, I committed to James Madison University on a football scholarship — with the intention of playing both football and baseball.
But following my senior year of high school, I was selected in the 9th round of the MLB Draft by the Cleveland Indians (now Guardians), and I chose to pursue professional baseball.
Over the course of a 12-year career, including seven years in the minor leagues before making my Major League debut, nothing came easy — and everything was earned. I played multiple positions, was part of several championship teams, and learned firsthand what a true winning culture looks and feels like.
My journey taught me the importance of mindset. Alongside the physical tools I developed, it was the mental side of the game — resilience, focus, confidence, preparation — that allowed me to compete and grow at the highest level.
After retiring from professional baseball, I returned to college and earned an Industrial Engineering degree from Cal State East Bay, graduating summa cum laude.
Today, I coach youth athletes and teams while helping the next generation build the mental skills that fuel long-term success — in sport and in life. I coach with respect for every individual’s path, knowing that each athlete is in a different place on their journey.
My mission is to help athletes bridge the gap between performance and potential — with tools, structure, and a mindset built to last.
Why Chasing 56?

At Chasing 56, everything I do is rooted in helping athletes unlock their full potential — through mental training, honest reflection, and intentional action.
The name is a tribute to Joe DiMaggio’s legendary 56-game hitting streak — a record that many believe will never be broken. It’s a symbol of consistency, focus, and greatness over time. DiMaggio had roots in the Bay Area — and that connection inspires the standard I now coach with.
Whether your goals involve chasing records of your own, reaching the next level in your sport, or simply earning a spot on your high school varsity team, I’m here to support you with tools, guidance, and belief.
Two principles drive my work:
- “Small Changes, Big Impact”
- “The Only Way to Shape the Future Is Through Action in the Present.”
Let’s build something bigger together — grounded in mindset, fueled by purpose, and guided by habits that make elite performance possible.

Professional Baseball Player to Coach
As a former professional baseball player turned certified life coach (IPEC) and mental performance coach (MGCP), I bring a unique blend of lived experience and proven tools to help athletes, coaches, teams, and families thrive. My mission is simple: to empower others to perform with clarity, confidence, and purpose — in competition and beyond.
What Sets My Coaching Apart
With years on the field and behind the bench, I understand the hunger for high-level success — and the stress, setbacks, and self-doubt that often come with it. Whether you’re an athlete pushing your limits, a parent supporting the journey, or a coach shaping culture, I provide tailored coaching designed to unlock your next level.
How You’ll Compete
Clients walk away with a sharper mindset and a clearer identity. My goal is to help you show up loose, focused, confident, and resilient — ready to lead, ready to elevate, and ready to be the kind of teammate others count on.
